Your Story MattersFree Coaching to Help You Tell Your Story
I post about writing, publishing, self-editing, & motivation
“What’s your favorite novel,” a colleague asked. I had no idea. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d read one.
I gravitate toward reading nonfiction books. I always have. I love learning, growth, and if I’m being honest, efficiency (I’m not just reading, I’m learning!). It wasn’t until I began ghostwriting that I realized I wasn’t just gravitating toward nonfiction, I was reading it exclusively.
Every good book starts with a plan. Scratch that. Every good book starts with an idea! But once you have the idea—BEFORE YOU PUT PEN TO PAPER—you need a plan. The plan is what’s going to hold you (and your idea) together through the many rounds of revisions, edits, and changes.
Most creatives I know think they will get more done if they wait to be inspired. In fact, the opposite is true. But what if you could schedule inspiration?
If you’re planning to self-publish your book, you will need an editor. The question is, what kind of editor do you need?
Have you ever labeled your manuscript, [TITLE]-FINAL-THE-ONE? Yeah, me neither.
Writing and editing feel subjective because, well… they are. The process is rarely linear. So how do you know when you’re finished?
Allow me to take you through my personal process of moving my work from rough draft to finished work.
